agent-aaron.ai is a personal AI research and practice project run by Aaron Lynch. It's the home for an ongoing engagement with artificial intelligence: a place to think, learn, experiment, and produce work that reflects genuine interest and growing capability within the field. It's a personal think tank, to explore ideas and test how they hold up in practice, in public.
The work is study-led. Research and learning is the primary engine, an attempt to keep pace with developments in AI and working out which ones matter most for business operating models and change management. Experimentation and prototyping drive learning through hands-on work with tools, architectures, and techniques. This website makes the work visible, showing it as it develops and building a body of evidence that positions Aaron credibly for applied-AI roles as they arise. Each part feeds the next: the research generates ideas and material to experiment with, the experiments generate work worth sharing, and the whole thing builds toward future opportunities.
It's built in the spare hours between a full-time job and parenting.
I'm in equal parts excited and unnerved by AI's potential to fundamentally reshape the world. I'd like to be useful in helping to ensure the positive impacts outweigh the negative, and that's part of what this project is for.
I've been fascinated by AI since well before ChatGPT and general-purpose AI agents made it a mainstream conversation. I completed the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Programme at Saïd Business School in 2019, which gave me my first real exposure to LLMs and how neural networks work, and more recently an intensive short course on building AI agents at Oxford Lifelong Learning.
Professionally, I'm a Senior Technical Business Analyst and Project Manager with over twenty years in financial services, split between Melbourne and London, where I'm now based. I started in a data entry role at Aviva in Australia and moved quickly into operations team leadership. Partway through my time at Aviva Investors in London I moved into business analysis and change, working on my first major operating model redesign. From there came an enterprise Business Process Management role at Barclays, then target operating model design at IFM in Melbourne and Tesco Pension Investments back in London. Today I'm the technical business analyst on a major front-to-back IBOR platform transformation at Octopus Investments. I'm also an active member of Octopus's AI Champions team, working on AI adoption and participating in Microsoft's Copilot Frontier early-access programme.
